Conversion
Conversion is changing something from one unit of measure into another unit of measure while keeping its value the same

Example; If I change 5 dollars to cents (1 dollar=100cents) it will become 500 cents.... Notice the value of the 5 dollars or the 500 cents is the same

To convert you have to know 2 things:

The conversion factor

The conversion rule

The conversion factor is how many of one thing is in one of the other things: How many cents in a dollar, How many inches in a foot, how many days in a week, how many seconds in a minute.... Etc. You will find a table of some conversion factors at the bottom of the page

The conversion Rule:

If you are converting from small to big: Divide by the conversion factor. Let us say there is 7 days in a week; to convert 35 days to weeks ..... We are converting from small to big (days are smaller than weeks). Therefore we divide 35 by 7 = 5 weeks

If you are converting from big to small: Multiply by the conversion factor. Let us say there is 12 months in a year; to convert 3 years to months ...... We are converting from big to small (years are bigger than months). Therefore we multiply 3 by 12 = 36 months

1 Mile = 1760 Yards

1 Yard = 3 feet

1 feet = 12 inches

1 Kilometer = 1000 meter

1 meter = 100 centimeter

1 centimeter = 10 millimeter

1 light year = 5 878 499 814 000 miles

1 nautical mile = 1.1508 miles

Mass:

1 Pound = 16 ounces

1 kilogram - 1000 gram

1 stone = 14 pounds

1 Ton = 2000 pounds

1 ounce = 28.35 grams

1 metric Ton = 1000 Kilograms

Time:

1 year = 12 months

1 year = 52 week (approx.)

1 week = 7 days

1 day = 24 hours

1 hour = 60 minute

1 minute = 60 seconds
