Multiplication and division of a decimal by 10,100, 1000, .....etc

A simple rule ...count how many zeros you multiplying or dividing by and move the decimal (the coma) the same number (of zeros) .... TO THE RIGHT FOR MULTIPLICATION AND TO THE LEFT FOR DIVISION

256.87 x 10 = 2568.7 (notice we moved the decimal one place to the right)
2345.876 x 100 = 234587.6 (notice we moved the decimal 2 places to the right)

23.3/10 = 2.33 (notice we moved the decimal one place to the left)
256.89/100 = 2.5689 (notice we moved the decimal 2 places to the left)
1.2/10 = .12 (notice we moved the decimal one place to the left)

In case the number of zeros is bigger than the number of digits to the right or the left of the decimal, substitute the difference by adding zeros yourself after doing the same as above

12.3 x 100 = 1230.

234.45 X 1000 = 234450.

1.2/100 = .012
