Welcome to TBCL, The Book Collector's Library, also known online as: tbclrarebooks

Other than attending the occasional book fair in Canada & the US, where we used to exhibit with greater frequency, TBCL, is a Montreal based, rare book "By Appointment Only" affair with over 30 years of experience providing interesting books & documents to an eclectic & discerning Clientèle. Our inventory, only a portion of which is online at any time is supported on a half dozen notable online services & is suited to both the Completist & High Spot Collector. The emphasis is on First Editions of English & American literature, Cornerstone books in Science & Travel, Livre d'Artiste, Can Lit, Mystery, Detection & Speculative Fiction, Albert Einstein, Virginia Woolf & Bloomsbury. Usually, you can find in our mix, important Presentation & Association Copies - Our Favourite Preoccupation. It can B a good idea to check with us from time 2 time, 2 C if we might have serendipitously unearthed your most important book want.

TBCL also manufactures a handsome custom line of protective Collector's Clamshell Cases for the Modern First Edition collector. These cases are unique as each one features a 'Sculpted' cover designs inspired by the title's dustwrapper like Daisy's face from the Gatsby below. They are high quality, hand-crafted, elegant modern cases. We also custom make classic Antiquarian cases & slipcases in elegant leathers & fine cloth. Just let us know the titles & we'll make a recommendation or 2.

"Secondhand books are wild books, homeless books; they have come together in vast flocks of variegated feather, and have a charm which the domesticated volumes of the library lack...in this random miscellaneous company we may rub against some complete stranger who will, with luck, turn into the best friend we have in the world."
- Virginia Woolf, from STREET HAUNTING
