The marriage record of Pierre Peloquin dit Felix and Marguerite Joly (married about 1785 in Sorel, PQ) does not appear in the repertoire of marriages of their parish, i.e., St. Pierre de Sorel, (Marriages de St Pierre-de-Sorel (1675-1865); Antonio Mongeau; Ed., B. Pontbriand; pub no. 43, 1967), nor is it to be found in Drouin or in the repertoires of neighboring parishes.

The "Memoires de la Société Généalogie Canadian-Française" Vol. 25 p.54, 1974 has the following entry:

"Pierre Peloquin and Marguerite Joly - their son Antoine married Catherine Aussant, January 30, 1815. Pierre could possibly be the son ( born in Sorel on December 13 1758) of Pierre Peloquin and Marguerite Dutremble-Desrosiers."

There also has been speculation that Pierre was the son of Pierre Peloquin and Marie-Rose Paul-Hus (m. 17 Oct. 1746). The GENWEB-Richelieu reflects this belief.

Patricia Turenne of the St. Bonniface Genealogical Society, Winnipeg, Manitoba has found the following record in the microfilm copy of the church records of St. Pierre-de-Sorel. It clearly documents the fact that Marie (b. 25 July 1795 in Sorel), the daughter of Pierre Peloquin and Marguerite Joly married her first cousin Louis, the son of Charles Peloquin (b. 16 Jan. 1727 in Sorel) and Francoise Cambray. Charles and Pierre were there-fore brothers and progeny of Charles Peloquin and Elisabeth (Isabelle) Salvail. Pierre was therefore born 23 July 1762 (not 1758 as indicated above).

Seen the so-called dispensations in date of the nine of the present, I the undersigned priest has received their mutual consent of marriage in presence of Charles Péloquin father, of François Peloquin, brother of groom, of Pierre Peloquin father of the bride, of Joseph Paul friend of the bride, the spouses declared not to know to sign and in same aforesaid witness presence the said Louis Péloquin and Marie Peloquin recognized to belong to them two children of which one a boy named Maxim - born and baptized September sixteen, eighteen hundred twenty four and the other a girl named born Adélaïde and baptized the twenty last January seven, which children the Louis aforementioned and Marie Péloquin want and want to make legitimate. Signed P. Kelly, priest

The following gives additional credence to this: There is a Pierre Peloquin born to Charles Peloquin and Isabelle Salvail on Jul 23, 1762 in St-Pierre-de-Sorel.

There is also a Pierre Peloquin spouse of Marguerite Joly who died on Jun 26, 1842 in St-Pierre-de-Sorel at the age of 80 years. Simple arithmetic, i.e., 1842 minus 80 gives 1762 and a match of the birth date and the death of the Pierre in question.
